Upcoming Weeds
You can use our Weeds page to familiarize yourself with the characteristics of most
common weeds. Also a simple online search for these weeds will lead you to a
deeper understanding of the lawn care challenges that you may be trying to
overcome. Please note that the time frames for weed outbreaks depends largely on
the type of weather we receive.
Crabgrass Outbreak
Expect to see this become a problem about the first week of May. As we progress
through the summer months, crabgrass continues to grow and develop. Effective
control can still be achieved through July. After that our best advice is to wait until
the frost kills this annual grass in October and start fresh next year with a
thorough pre-emergent application.

Groundsel
Mostly found in planting beds, groundsel is a highly prolific annual weed that has
reached epidemic levels in some areas. We have seen groundsel germinate,
thrive and produce seed throughout the entire year in central PA. Under ideal
conditions, groundsel seems to be able to germinate, flower and produce seed
within several weeks! The best way to stay ahead of this weed is to apply an
effective pre-emergent in the spring and keep applying follow-up treatments
throughout the growing season. This approach is exactly what our bed weed
control program offers! Contact us for a free estimate.

Yellow Nutsedge
That pale green grassy looking weed that pops up right after you mow during the
summer months is yellow nutsedge. This weed is not a grass, it is a sedge
which is a totally different botanical family of plant. It's name is derived from the
hard tubers or nuts that it forms in the soil. We offer a treatment that is very
effective at controlling these unsightly weeds. Contact us for a free estimate.
